Our Story

Our story is already a fairly lengthy one, 11 years in the making! We officially met at St John’s Secondary School in 2008, however, we never really ‘properly’ met until Sixth Form. One night in the infamous Bar None (it wasn’t that special they just served underage teenagers), our friend Camile forced us to talk to each other. Next thing we knew we were dancing in Monaco night club and even shared a kiss at the fire exit door… such a classy couple.

From then on we have always been together, even if that meant we had to do long distance for a while. For university Abi moved to Sheffield and I moved to Newcastle. Throughout the next four years of our studies we travelled back and forth to see each other every chance we could. After university, we moved back in with our parents, with Abi working at GSK and myself working for the DWP.

Ever the ambitious one, Abi set her sights on getting a PhD. She of course was successful in her application to The University of Edinburgh, and I planned to move up once I found a job. I applied for a role in the Scottish Government and to my surprise, Emma and John thought I was the right fit and they offered me a job.

We moved in together in July 2020, at the height of the pandemic which was interesting to say the least! I was nervous to move to a new city and leave family and friends behind, but of course there was nothing to worry about. With Abi being a notorious social butterfly, she had already befriended half of the city by the time I arrived.

In 2022, Abi was given the opportunity to study at Harvard University in Boston for a three month placement. Even since being together we had never spent that much time apart, as such, it was a challenging few months apart. However, it gave me the perfect opportunity to propose in a grand romantic way; something I really needed as I took my time popping the question! I flew out to visit Abi for a planned three week holiday and proposed to her in the Boston Common. She said yes and that brings us to 2025, the year of our wedding.

We are thrilled to celebrate the Reese-Vasey wedding with you all. Now there are only a few things left to do; eat way too much food; drink an embarrassing amount and; dance the night away.
